Financial Controller

On December 17, 2020

NMK Electronics, a leading group of AV distributors in the Middle East is growing and in need of an experienced Financial Controller to guide the financial systems that empower us. The successful candidate will join our team of high-performing professionals to help keep our finances insightful and instrumental to our continued success. NMK Electronics has recently joined a global Group which is listed on the FTSE AIM 100 market in the UK and so this represents a very exciting time to join us.

The right candidate will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on company operations, helping us analyse, strategize, and grow the business. This seasoned strategist not only understands current accounting practices and trends, but has proven experience in adapting to change, with a strong commercial acumen. As a member of our senior management team, he or she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication and presentation skills with significant experience in the Middle East, and ideally, experience of working as part of an international Group.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and ensure the proper functioning of the accounting department.
  • Drive the company’s financial planning and financial strategy (“FP&A”).
  • Preparation of commercial reports when required to assist local and Group management in operational decision making.
  • Perform risk management by analysing the organization’s liabilities and reconciliation of financial discrepancies by collecting relevant information.
  • Manage cash flow and ensure it is appropriate for the organization’s operations
  • Negotiating with banks for credit facilities, orders, letter of credit and other banking products
  • Credit overview and assessment of customers. Approval of sales orders and finalisation of payment terms along with decision on payment options.
  • Accounts receivable management, follow up and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Confirmation and Overview of LC applications and submissions to the bank.
  • Accounts payable management, on time payments along with stock status update for the relevant payments.
  • Maintain good vendor relationships
  • Assist commercial team on stock investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
  • Payroll processing and WPS compliance.
  • Preparation of Management reports in accordance with Group reporting requirements - Balance sheet, cash flow and profit and loss accounts.
  • Train, educate, and make sure the accounting team is well equipped with up to date knowledge and requirements of laws, IFRS and accounting procedures.
  • Review, evaluate, implement and enhance Internal Control processes
  • Liaise and coordinate with external auditors and provide audit support along with preparation and submission of relevant schedules.
  • Preparation of the Financial Statements for presentation to the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting

Regulatory Requirement and Compliance

  • Establishing and disseminating up to date information to the accounting team to make sure the relevant regulatory requirements are fulfilled on timely basis.
  • Make sure all the data/records are kept updated in line with federal tax authority and other regulatory bodies rules & requirement
  • Communicating with FTA for vat registration, vat returns filing, vat refunds submission and follow up of refund claims.
  • Compliance and preparation of reports and submission as required by regulatory authorities - ESR, ICV certifications.
  • Make sure all movements/transfer of inventory, assets etc at local level as well as  internationally is in compliance with the federal tax authority and other regulatory bodies’ rules and requirements for example customer and excise departments etc
  • Make sure during above process all the record is updated and documented whereas the documents are kept safely and properly

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Proven experience as Financial Controller, Head of Finance or relevant role
  • MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification or equivalent professional certification required
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a finance role in the UAE
  • Experience in a senior management position.
  • Solid IFRS and financial reporting technical skills.
  • International Group reporting experience would be beneficial.

Skills/requirements

  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software and ERP systems
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems
  • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
  • Demonstrated history of profitability management and commercial acumen
  • Promotion of process improvement
  • Ability to lead and mentor a small finance team

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization, including non-finance staff, and with staff at remote locations essential.
